Cruinniú na nÓg - Bringing Youth Creativity to Every Corner of Ireland

In 2025, THINKHOUSE set out to deliver the biggest and best Cruinniú na nÓg campaign for Creative Ireland and RTÉ. Cruinniú na nÓg is Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children, an initiative of Creative Ireland which is supported by RTÉ. THINKHOUSE is privileged to partner with both organisations to promote this important annual event and champion youth creativity across the island of Ireland.

This year, we aimed to transform the island into a living, breathing gallery of young people’s imagination. These two campaigns wove together cinematic storytelling and on-the-ground exhibitions, ensuring that children’s creativity would be seen, heard and celebrated both in public spaces, at free creative events and across screens nationwide.

Creative Ireland & Cruinniú na nÓg

Creative Ireland wanted to capture the imagination of young people and their parents, encouraging participation in 1,300 free events taking place across the island of Ireland on Saturday, June 7th.

THINKHOUSE was tasked with creating a suite of TV and social content to help promote the national event. We didn’t want to simply showcase children making art; we wanted to let viewers step into their shoes and experience creativity from their perspective. We wanted to hear from young artists about why they loved their chosen craft and how it makes them feel when they practice their art.

THINKHOUSE created a two-tiered video campaign. First, a cinematic 30-second TVC wove together four distinct worlds of youth creativity from four strategic partner youth organisations for this campaign: Circus Explored, Youth Theatre Island, This Is Art! and Wonder Walls. Each sequence unfolded as if the camera itself were an explorer, moving through stages, studios and art spaces.

Parallel to the hero film, we produced four 60-second mini-documentaries, one per discipline. In each, participating young artists interviewed one another about why their craft matters, and the role art, circus, theatre, and street art play in their lives. This peer-to-peer format made every insight feel freshly authentic.

The campaign was amplified with paid social across key youth platforms including YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.

The campaign’s video content generated the following results:

  • 1.5 million cumulative TV views
  • 11 million+ paid social impressions

Sheila Deegan from Creative Ireland said: “Seeing young artists step into the spotlight, sharing their passion for visual art, circus, theatre and street art, reminds us why Cruinniú na nÓg exists. This campaign didn’t just document young people’s creativity; it immersed us in it, proving that when we listen to young voices, we discover the creative energy that will drive tomorrow’s creative society.”

RTÉ This Is Art! Island

Every year, thousands of children and teenagers pour their passion into art for RTÉ’s This Is Art! Competition with their work showcased through an online gallery. To mark Cruinniú na nÓg’s spirit of free creativity, RTÉ asked THINKHOUSE to step beyond the digital gallery and bring these young voices into the heart of communities across the island of Ireland.

For This Is Art! Island, we curated fifteen standout pieces from last year’s This Is Art! competition, and showcased the artwork across the island in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Derry on Cruinniú na nÓg day - June 7th.

We exhibited the chosen pieces in five dynamic outdoor locations chosen to reflect Ireland’s rich tapestry of geography and culture. From the leafy paths of Dublin’s National Botanic Gardens to the shores of Sherkin Island’s Silver Strand Beach, urban parks, historic castles and circus grounds became impromptu exhibition spaces. Each site was selected for its capacity to surprise passersby and spark conversation about what it means to create, share and belong.

Showcasing children’s art across the island of Ireland proved popular with media, generating eight pieces of coverage in print and online, delivering a combined potential earned reach of 401k.

Roslyn Kavanagh, one of the featured artists, said: “I’m honoured that my piece, ‘Mother Earth Matters’, was chosen as a part of This is Art! Island. This piece really demonstrates my values and interests of sustainability and theology and I am grateful it will be seen by individuals around the country.”

By combining physical exhibitions with immersive visual storytelling, THINKHOUSE helped RTÉ and Creative Ireland showcase and encourage young people’s creativity on a scale never before seen. Together, these activations reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of creators, making Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 the most inspiring edition yet.
